Keystone: Defensive Handgun

This is the second course in Jawbone Defense’s Wall of Protection tactics continuum. Prerequisites for this class include either Cornerstone: Handgun skills OR a reputable introductory professional training. This course begins with an evaluation of the performance expected at the conclusion of Cornerstone. This course progresses quickly into an emphasis on applying more advanced techniques under more difficult real-life situations. This course is not for those new to training for defensive shooting.

Course curriculum includes:

Universal firearms safety – review
Situational awareness (advanced)
Engaging skills to Prepare for the Unexpected™
Legal aspect pre and post incident considerations
Weapon deployment
Moving and shooting
Many more advanced tactics

Shot count will be approximately 150 rounds

Required Equipment:

- A good quality handgun, suitable for self-protection and/or concealed carry. We work with all serious defensive calibers (9mm, .380, .38 .40, .45, etc). Micro or ultra-light handguns are not good choices for training. If you have any questions about the suitability of your gun, please contact me.
- Magazines – minimum of 3

Hearing protection

Eye Protection

- A Kydex or ridged leather holster. NO Serpa, Fobus or soft holsters
- A magazine pouch/holder for at least 2 of your spare magazines.

A sturdy belt

Ball cap or other brimmed headwear.

Clothing suitable for the weather and the range. We will shoot in whatever conditions rain or shine exist at time of the class. We will only stop for unsafe weather.
Raingear plus a light jacket and sweater or sweatshirt.
Note-taking materials. Small pocket note book while on the range.
